Guardian Program

Are you interested in becoming part of our Guardian Family Program?

We operate a small guardian program, and from time to time, we have puppies we'd like to keep for future breeding or adult dogs that could serve as guardians dogs, eventually returning to us for their final puppy duties.

If you are approved as a guardian family, we will provide you with an agreement and all the necessary information and support to become a part of the Guardian family. Should you decide to join our guardian program, we retain breeding rights for up to three litters (for females). Our breeding dogs are cherished members of our family, spending a great deal of time in our home and becoming an integral part of our lives. While they have specific roles to play, their primary need is a loving home and a place within a family.

Guardian programs allow a dog to stay with one family from a young age, eliminating the need for rehoming once their breeding career concludes. Our puppy mothers will visit our house for mating and to raise their pups. After completing their breeding career, they are spayed and transferred to you.

Please be aware that the dog remains the legal property of Groodles NT until all terms and conditions of the guardian agreement are fulfilled. If you change your mind about being a guardian after receiving your dog, please note that the full price would be payable.

On occasion, we may also have male stud dogs available for placement in guardian homes. We cover the cost of neutering when their breeding career comes to an end. Male stud dogs are placed exclusively in homes near Greater Darwin Region due to the occasional need for their immediate availability.

We cover health testing and breeding-related expenses. Guardian homes are responsible for standard dog-related costs, such as annual vaccinations, general veterinary bills, monthly tick and flea prevention, grooming, boarding, and obedience classes.

Requirements for Guardian Homes:

  • A dog-proof, fenced yard.

  • Provide a top-quality family life for the dog.

  • Feed a high-quality diet

  • Ability to manage diet and exercise to ensure the dog remains fit and at a healthy weight.

  • Willingness to attend obedience classes with our recommended trainers and ensure the dog is calm and obedient.

  • Maintain the dog's good health and grooming.

  • Flexibility to grant us access to the dog for breeding purposes when needed.

  • Willingness for the dog to temporarily leave your care for mating and whelping.

  • Ability to transport the dog to the Greater Darwin Region as required.

  • Whole family must be on board and comfortable with potential absences.

If you're interested in joining us as a guardian family, please sign up for our Priority Membership and specify your interest in our guardian program. Additionally, provide us with more information about your situation.
